Lesson No. 11 of the INC doctrines is about Bro. Felix Y. Manalo as the messenger of God in these last days. This claim is supported by many bible verses. According to some articles on the internet, FYM declared himself as messenger of God in 1922 after two years living in United States. What was the INC teaching about him between 1914 – 1922?
The messenger of God (Rom.10:15 NKJV) in these last days (Isa.43:6, Moffat) is Brother Felix Y. Manalo (Rev.7:2-3). It was not him who built the Church but it is Christ Himself (Mt.16:18) by virtue of the fulfillment of the prophesy (Jn.10:16). Brother Felix Manalo was only utilized by God as His instrument to preach the pure Gospel of salvation in these last days. He was the first to preach the Church of Christ in the Philippines.
1Some articles claimed that it was in 1922 that FYM declared himself to be the “fifth angel” or “another angel rising in the east” as mentioned in Revelation 7:2. What happened before 1922? In September 1919 (a year after the end of first world war) it was said that FYM traveled to the United States to study in Pacific School of Religion in California in Berkeley, California. However, the school’s registrar denied this. While he is in United States, he collected many religious books and encyclopedias and different versions (translations) of the bible and later adorned his office back in the Philippines. He returned to the Philippines in 1921. In 1922, he was accused of extravagance and immorality that resulted in a schism led by Teofilo Ora, Januario Ponce and Basilio Santiago. Some followers left the church. Using Revelation 7:2, FYM declare himself as the “fifth angel rising from the east” in order to accumulate power and reassert his leadership in the church. Since then, along with other verses in the bible, FYM as the messenger of God in these last days became part of the doctrinal lessons of the INC.
The Cornelius Theory of Equivocation
Let us start with Romans 10:15. When the minsters preach this verse, they do not read the entire verse for some reason:
Are the doctrines of the church gospel of peace? The members are molded in a process called “mind conditioning”. You must attend worship service without absences, always participate in many different kinds of offerings, invite people to convert in the church, if you do not follow you will end up in the lake of fire. If everything is peaceful inside the church you think this is the way it is to be a servant of God but now it does not feel like it is a gospel of peace. It is more like a spiritual corruption. Religion should be about finding peace with God, about repentance and worship of Him. A member who even in the free speech context can be expelled for saying something not in favor to the church administration. If a member is expelled, he/she is considered enemy of the Church and already destine to hell.
What About Isaiah 41:9-10? If we read from verse 8, clearly the owner of the prophesy are the Israelite.
Does it not change the meaning of verse 9-10 if you read verse 8? I know what the INC minister will say, Israel is a symbolic word, it refers to the church – the Church of Christ.
The other verses will be covered in future articles.
